The promo for Scott Speedman’s new series RJ Decker describes his character as a private eye and a public mess, which pretty much nails the vibe of ABC’s midseason drama. The network’s set a Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 10pm ET/PT premiere date, with The Rookie moving to Mondays at 10pm beginning on January 26.
In addition to Speedman (as the titular character), the new drama stars Jaina Lee Ortiz as Emilia “Emi” Ochoa, Bevin Bru as Detective Melody “Mel” Abreau, Kevin Rankin as Aloysius “Wish” Aiken, and Adelaide Clemens as Catherine Delacroix. The series is inspired by Carl Hiaasen’s novel Double Whammy.
ABC offers this description: “Scott Speedman stars as RJ Decker, a disgraced newspaper photographer and ex-con who starts over as a private investigator in the colorful-if-crime-filled world of South Florida. The series follows him tackling cases that range from slightly odd to outright bizarre with the help of his journalist ex, her police detective wife and a shadowy new benefactor—a woman from his past who could be his greatest ally … or his one-way ticket back to prison.”
Author Hiaasen is involved as an executive producer. Rob Doherty is the writer and executive produces along with Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman. Scott Speedman is a producer, and Paul McGuigan directs and executive produces.
