The Descendants: The Rise of Red trailer finds the titular character being warned that when she alters the fabric of time, there can be consequences. But does she listen? The trailer reveals the answer is definitely no.
“Former Villain Kid (aka VK) Uma, now Auradon Prep’s newest principal, extends an invite to the school to another VK — Red, the rebellious daughter of the Queen of Hearts from Wonderland,” reads Disney+’s synopsis. “After the Queen of Hearts incites a coup against Auradon, Red and Cinderella’s daughter Chloe travel back in time to undo the traumatic event that set Red’s mother down her villainous path.”
Kylie Cantrall stars as Red, Malia Baker is Chloe, Brandy is Cinderella, Rita Ora is the Queen of Hearts, Dara Reneé is Uliana, and Ruby Rose Turner is Bridget/Young Queen of Hearts. Morgan Dudley plays Ella/Young Cinderella, Joshua Colley is Young Hook, Peder Lindell is Morgie, Grace Narducci is Fay/Young Fairy Godmother, Jeremy Swift is Principal Merlin, and Paolo Montalban is King Charming.
The ensemble also includes Leonardo Nam as Maddox Hatter, China Anne McClain as Uma, and Melanie Paxson is Fairy Godmother.
Jennifer Phang directed Descendants: The Rise of Red from a screenplay by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer. Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh executive produce, with Mahita P. Simpson and Phang co-executive producing. Wendy S. Williams serves as a producer, Mark Hofeling is the production designer, Katie Ennis is the editor, and Declan Quinn is the director of photography. Julia Caston and Emilio Sosa are the costume designers.
The new Descendants movie premieres on Friday, July 12, 2024 on Disney+.
