Apple TV’s Hijack returns for an eight-episode second season on January 14, 2026, with SAG Award winner Idris Elba back to star and executive produce. The first season was centered on a plane; the second moves the action to a train. Both seasons focus on Elba’s character, Sam Nelson.
New episodes will stream on Wednesdays.
In addition to Idris Elba, Christine Adams, Max Beesley, and Archie Panjabi return for the new season. Newcomers include Christian Näthe, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Lisa Vicari, Toby Jones, Karima McAdams, and Christiane Paul.
Apple TV offers this description of the new season: “In the thrilling second season of Hijack, a Berlin underground train and its commuters are taken hostage, while authorities scramble to save hundreds of lives. Sam Nelson (Elba) is at the heart of the crisis on board, where one wrong decision could spell disaster.”
Season two episode one, “Signal,” plot: Two years after Flight KA29’s hijacking, Sam Nelson is thrust into another life-threatening ordeal—but this time it’s personal.
George Kay (Lupin) and Jim Field Smith (Criminal) created the series and serve as executive producers along with Elba, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Tom Nash. Field Smith is the lead director.
