Netflix’s The Gentlemen dropped a season two trailer and confirmation that the popular series will return for season three. The season three renewal announcement was just a formality since rumors of Meghan Markle’s potential casting in the next season have already flooded social media.
The Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry are preparing to move back to the U.K., and unofficial word had it that Markle was in consideration for a role in season three. However, award-winning journalist Tina Brown (formerly of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker) reports that is no longer the case due to backlash in the U.K.
The Gentlemen premiered in March 2024. The eight-episode second season will debut on September 3, 2026.
“The ambition of The Gentlemen has accelerated, the world has expanded and the consequences carry weight. A third season felt inevitable, and I’m looking forward to pushing the boundaries of it further,” said series creator, writer, director, and executive producer Guy Ritchie.
Season two stars Theo James (The Monkey), Kaya Scodelario (Senna), Ray Winstone (Sexy Beast), Joely Richardson (Ballad of Renegade Nell), Vinnie Jones (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Jasmine Blackborow (Legends), Michael Vu (In The Grey), and Daniel Ings (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms). Harry Goodwins (One Spoon of Chocolate), Ruby Sear, Pearce Quigley (The Detectorists), and Giancarlo Esposito (The Residence) also return for season two.
Newcomers include Hugh Bonneville (I Came By), Benjamin Clementine (Dune), Benedetta Porcaroli (The Leopard), Michele Morrone (Another Simple Favor), Sergio Castellitto (The Star Maker), Amra Mallassi (Dune: Part Two), Tyler Conti (Tell Me Everything), boxer Chris Eubank Jr, and TV host Maya Jama.
Netflix offers this synopsis of season two: “It’s been one year since Eddie and Susie joined forces to work together in Bobby’s criminal empire overseas. As they drive to expand their enterprise, the decisions Bobby is making seem to be increasingly unsound. Now Eddie and Susie must decide whether to take action or risk losing it all, but unfettered ambition never ends well…”
As for season three, all Netflix said was, “Your guess is as good as mine.”
In addition to Guy Ritchie, season two is written by Matthew Read, Danielle Ward, John Jackson, and Iain Weatherby. Directors include Eran Creevy and Nick Rowland, with Ritchie, Read, Will Gould, Simon Crawford Collins, Frith Tiplady, Ivan Atkinson, Jonathan Glickman, and Marc Helwig serving as executive producers.
