Oscar nominee Kirsten Dunst (The Power of the Dog) has signed on to Lionsgate’s The Housemaid sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret, based on Freida McFadden’s 2023 bestseller. Dunst is joining Sydney Sweeney, who’s set to reprise her role as Millie.
Michele Morrone is also confirmed to return as Enzo.
“It is a privilege to bring The Housemaid’s next chapter to the screen with Kirsten Dunst,” said Erin Westerman, president, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. “She is an icon. Her career reflects extraordinary range and fearlessness. Opposite the ever-magnetic Sydney Sweeney, she will be an electrifying force in a world where nothing is ever quite as it seems.”
The original film’s director, Paul Feig, and screenwriter, Rebecca Sonnenshine, are back for the sequel. Feig, Laura Fischer, Sydney Sweeney, and Todd Lieberman will produce, with Carly Elter and Alex Young executive producing.
Lionsgate offers this synopsis: “In The Housemaid’s Secret, Millie returns, taking a job keeping house for a woman she’s never allowed to see—only to discover the truth behind the locked door that threatens to expose secrets far darker than her own.”
Kirsten Dunst’s recent credits include Roofman and Civil War, and she has A Minecraft Movie‘s sequel and The Entertainment System is Down in the works.
Sydney Sweeney’s credits include Christie, Echo Valley, Eden, and Immaculate. Sweeney’s got the long-delayed season three of Euphoria premiering on April 12, 2026.
