‘Land of Women’ Series Preview: Cast, Photos, Trailer, and Plot

Land of Women Cast

Eva Longoria rounds up her family and goes on the run in Apple TV+’s Land of Women, based on Sandra Barneda’s bestselling novel La tierra de las mujeres. The trailer shows Longoria protecting her mom and daughter by fleeing the United States. Why? Because her hubby apparently owes criminals $15 million and doesn’t have the resources to pay off his debt.

The new series also stars Carmen Maura, Santiago Cabrera, and newcomer Victoria Bazúa.

Land of Women is a dramedy starring Eva Longoria as Gala, a well-to-do New Yorker who has her life turned upside down when her husband fails to repay a debt to the wrong people. With dangerous criminals searching for her family and now vanished husband, Gala is forced to leave the city with her aging mother Julia (Maura) and teenage daughter Kate (Bazúa) to her mother’s hometown in northern Spain—a place that Julia fled 50 years ago—to start life anew and hope their identities remain hidden,” reads Apple TV+’s synopsis. “But gossip in the charming wine town quickly spreads, unraveling their deepest family secrets and truths.”

Discussing the series with The Hollywood Reporter, Longoria described her character as a New York socialite forced to leave her comfortable life behind. “She has to bring along her mother [who has dementia] and her rebellious daughter to go with her, and they go to Spain to be in hiding. They end up going to the town the mother grew up in, and it’s a town she left because she had so many secrets,” said Longoria. “So it’s this multi-generational show about these three women who really don’t know each other, even though it’s grandma, mother and daughter, it’s like they’re strangers to each other and this adventure leads them back to each other.”

Ramón Campos, Gema R. Neira, and Paula Fernández created the series, with Campos serving as showrunner. Campos, Neira, Teresa Fernández-Valdés, Ben Spector, Sandra Condito, and Longoria (via her UnbeliEVAble Entertainment production company) executive produce. Carlos Sedes is the director and also executive produces.

Land of Women is produced by Bambu Producciones.

The six-episode series premieres on June 26, 2024 with the release of the first two episodes. New episodes stream on Wednesdays.
