Deborah Vance is back and determined to secure her legacy in the fifth and final season of the award-winning comedy Hacks. HBO Max unveiled the official trailer and announced an April 9, 2026 at 9pm ET/PT premiere, with new episodes streaming weekly on Thursdays. The 10-episode final season wraps up on May 28.
Emmy winners Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder return to lead the series as Deborah Vance and Ava. Season five also stars Emmy winner Paul W. Downs, Megan Stalter, Emmy nominee Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Mark Indelicato, and Rose Abdoo. Guest stars include Emmy nominee Robby Hoffman, Tony Goldwyn, Emmy nominee Kaitlin Olson, Emmy nominee Christopher McDonald, Emmy nominee Jane Adams, Lauren Weedman, Poppy Liu, Johnny Sibilly, Luenell, Angela E. Gibbs, and Caitlin Reilly.
Christopher Briney joins the final season in a guest-starring role.
HBO Max offers this synopsis: “In the aftermath of mistaken and unflattering news reports that she passed away, Deborah Vance (Smart) and Ava (Einbinder) return to Las Vegas more determined than ever to secure Deborah’s legacy as a comedian.”
Emmy winners Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky created the series and serve as showrunners and executive producers. Michael Schur, David Miner, Morgan Sackett, Joe Mande, Aisha Muharrar, Nate Young, and Ashley Glazier also executive produce.
