He died Sunday morning immediately after his very public battle with pancreatic cancer.
Trebek sat down with Eyewitness Thing anchor David Ono last year on the set of “Jeopardy” and spoke candidly about his fight along with his disease.
He also related how he was offering words together with encouragement to others battling the same conditions. He admitted the treatment was not current as well as he hoped, but your puppy remained graciously public about it.
After announcing his growths diagnosis in March 2019, Trebek said he was flooded with a substantial number of cards and letters by way of fans.
“Viewers towards Jeopardy are like family to me, type he said. “We’ve been along for 35 years. They know my opinion very well and I know them exceptionally because of all the mail I’ve obtained. ”

A number of letters were from people who had been also struggling with pancreatic cancer or try to help friends and family members who were. They often requested to answer him for words of logic about how he deals with it.
“Just make up your mind communicate going to be a cancer survivor, type he said. “Be optimistic. It is possible to going to be bad days. And learn you’ll deal with them. Hey, think of yourself as as positive as you can. And be exposed to the fact that you’ve had another day. Which is a pretty good deal. ”
Since Trebek exuded a sense of peace in regard to his own mortality, saying he had stood a good life and was not scared of death.
“I’ve maintained one hell of a good reality and I’ve enjoyed it. And thought of passing on doesn’t frighten me. It doesn’t. Hey folks, is with the territory. ”
