‘Street Fighter’ Live-Action Film Confirms Cast and Release Date

The live-action Street Fighter film has moved over to Paramount Pictures as part of Legendary Entertainment’s new deal with the studio. The news of its new home was accompanied by a cast/character list, plot description, and announcement of an October 16, 2026 theatrical release.

The action film based on Capcom’s popular video game franchise is currently in production and is being filmed for IMAX.

“Legendary has built a reputation for ambitious, globally appealing films, and we’re excited to be partnering with them. Street Fighter is the perfect start to our collaboration, which we believe will be strong and lasting,” stated Josh Greenstein, Co-Chair of Paramount Pictures and Vice Chair of Platforms, and Dana Goldberg, Co-Chair of Paramount Pictures and Chair of Paramount Television.

Legendary and Paramount released the following description of the live-action film:

“Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Koji) and Ken Masters (Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!

Helmed by director Kitao Sakurai, Street Fighter is set to bring the battle from the arcade to the big screen with Hadoukens, roundhouses, and all your favorite characters.”
