Game of Thrones‘ Natalie Dormer has committed to starring in Netflix’s Extraction series, set in the world of the two action films starring Chris Hemsworth. Dormer joins Omar Sy and Boyd Holbrook in the eight-episode series written and executive produced by Glen Mazzara (Damien, The Shield).
Mazzara will also guide the series as showrunner. AGBO’s Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Scott Nemes, and Chris Castaldi will serve as executive producers along with Sam Hargrave, Eric Gitter, and Peter Schwerin.
“In this action-packed thriller, a mercenary (Sy) embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue hostages in Libya,” reads Netflix’s synopsis. “Trapped between warring factions and ruthless killers, he must navigate life-or-death choices while confronting deep emotional wounds. The series explores the trauma, betrayal, and moral conflicts of characters pushed to the edge.”
The first Extraction film debuted on Netflix in April 2020, setting a new record for the biggest-ever film premiere up to that date. Netflix reports 90 million households streamed the 2020 film, and over 123 million households viewed its 2023 sequel.
