Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions once again dives into the horror genre with Him, and the newly released trailer offers a glimpse into a terrifying journey where the pursuit of greatness comes at a sinister cost. Directed by Justin Tipping (Kicks), the film stars Marlon Wayans in a dramatic turn as a former superstar quarterback with ulterior motives for mentoring an up-and-coming QB.
Tyriq Withers (I Know What You Did Last Summer) stars as the quarterback who seeks help from his hero. The film also stars Julia Fox (Uncut Gems), Tim Heidecker (Us), Jim Jefferies (The Jim Jefferies Show), MMA heavyweight fighter Maurice Greene, Guapdad 4000, and Grammy nominee Tierra Whack.
“Him stars former college wide receiver Tyriq Withers as Cameron Cade, a rising-star quarterback who has devoted his life, and identity, to football. On the eve of professional football’s annual scouting Combine, Cam is attacked by an unhinged fan and suffers a potentially career-ending brain trauma,” reads Universal Pictures’ synopsis. “Just when all seems lost, Cam receives a lifeline when his hero, Isaiah White (Wayans), a legendary eight-time Championship quarterback and cultural megastar, offers to train Cam at Isaiah’s isolated compound that he shares with his celebrity influencer wife, Elsie White (Fox). But as Cam’s training accelerates, Isaiah’s charisma begins to curdle into something darker, sending his protégé down a disorienting rabbit hole that may cost him more than he ever bargained for.”
Zack Akers, Skip Bronkie, and Justin Tipping wrote the screenplay, and Ian Cooper, Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, and Jamal M. Watson served as producers. David Kern and Kate Oh are the executive producers.
Him will open in theaters on September 19, 2025.
