Netflix just unveiled its first teaser trailer for Noah Baumbach’s new comedy, Jay Kelly. George Clooney stars as an aging actor who is accused of always playing himself. “How can I play people when I don’t see people, I don’t touch people?” replies Clooney’s titular character.
The cast also includes Adam Sandler (Happy Gilmore 2), Laura Dern (Marriage Story), Billy Crudup (The Morning Show), Riley Keough (Daisy Jones & the Six), Grace Edwards (Asteroid City), Stacy Keach (Nebraska), and Jim Broadbent (Another Year). Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring), Eve Hewson (Flora and Son), Greta Gerwig (White Noise), Alba Rohrwacher (La Chimera), Josh Hamilton (Maestro), Lenny Henry (Missing You), Emily Mortimer (The New Look), and Nicôle Lecky (Sense8) also star.
Rounding out the ensemble are Thaddea Graham (Bad Sisters), Isla Fisher (Now You See Me), Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes), and Charlie Rowe (Never Let Me Go).
Netflix will release Jay Kelly in select theaters on November 14, 2025, followed by a streaming release on December 5.
“Jay Kelly, the new film from Academy Award nominee Noah Baumbach, follows famous movie actor Jay Kelly (Clooney) and his devoted manager Ron (Sandler) as they embark on a whirlwind and unexpectedly profound journey through Europe,” reads Netflix’s synopsis. “Along the way, both men are forced to confront the choices they’ve made, the relationships with their loved ones, and the legacies they’ll leave behind.”
Noah Baumbach co-wrote the screenplay with Emily Mortimer and serves as a producer along with David Heyman and Amy Pascal. Baumbach’s behind-the-scenes team includes director of photography Linus Sandgren, editors Valerio Bonelli and Rachel Durance, production designer Mark Tildesley, and costume designer Jacqueline Durran, with the score by Nicholas Britell.
