Prime Video’s massive fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has expanded its cast by three. Andrew Richardson is joining the production in a series regular role. Zubin Varla and Adam Young have boarded the series in recurring roles.

Prime Video’s announcement did not indicate who the three newcomers will be playing. They join previously announced new additions Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things) and Eddie Marsan (Franklin).

“Jumping forward several years from the events of season two, season three takes place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war and conquer all Middle-earth at last,” reads Prime Video’s synopsis.

Production is currently underway at Shepperton Studios on the new season. Season one premiered on September 1, 2022. Season two debuted on August 29, 2024.

Andrew Richardson’s stage credits include Uncle Vanya and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Zubin Varla’s television credits include Andor, Silent Witness, Deep State, Will, Our Girl, Strike Back, and Little Dorrit. Adam Young’s filmography includes Don’t Breathe 2, Two for Joy, and Clergyman. Young’s also appeared on television in Masters of the Air, EastEnders, The Witcher: Blood Origin, and Sex Education.

J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay guide the series as showrunners and executive producers. Additional executive producers include Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and director Charlotte Brändström.
