Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic Little House books are being adapted for television once again, with Netflix announcing production has kicked off on the Little House on the Prairie reboot’s first season. The new series stars Luke Bracey as Charles Ingalls and Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls.
The cast also includes Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls, Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls, Warren Christie as John Edwards, and Jocko Sims as Dr. George Tann. Meegwun Fairbrother is Mitchell, Alyssa Wapanatâhk is White Sun, Wren Zhawenim Gotts is Good Eagle, and Xander Cole is Little Puma.
“Part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West, this fresh adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s iconic semi-autobiographical Little House books offers a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier,” reads Netflix’s synopsis.
Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys) is the showrunner and serves as an executive producer along with Joy Gorman Wettels, Trip Friendly, Dana Fox, and Susanna Fogel. Sarah Adina Smith will direct the reboot’s first episode.
“I am absolutely thrilled with the brilliant cast we have assembled,” stated Sonnenshine in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum. “Each one of them brings something special to the Little House universe and will help make this story come alive for a whole new generation.”
