New Line Cinema released a short teaser for Weapons just a week ago that showed kids leaving their beds in the middle of the night. Now, the studio’s following up with a full trailer that sort of offers more details on why a classroom-full of students decided to walk out of their homes and disappear at 2:17am.

New Line Cinema offers this synopsis: “When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.”

Julia Garner (Ozark) stars as the teacher of the kids who vanished. The film also stars Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan.

Weapons was written and directed by Barbarian‘s Zach Cregger. Cregger also serves as a producer along with Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, J.D. Lifshitz, and Raphael Margules. Executive producers include Josh Brolin and Michelle Morrissey. Cregger’s behind-the-scenes team includes director of photography Larkin Seiple, production designer Tom Hammock, editor Joe Murphy, and costume designer Trish Sommerville. Cregger, Ryan Holladay, and Hays Holladay wrote the music.

Weapons opens in theaters and IMAX on August 8, 2025.
