Emmy winner Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) and Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman, soon to be seen opposite Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool & Wolverine, will star in The Death of Robin Hood. Filming is expected to begin in early 2025, with writer/director Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Day One) at the helm.

“It has been an incredible opportunity to reinvent and freshly innovate the story we all know of Robin Hood,” said Sarnoski. “Securing the perfect cast to transform the script to screen was essential. I could not be more thrilled and trusting in Hugh and Jodie to bring this story to life in a powerful and meaningful way.”

“Grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, a battle-worn loner finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman, who offers him a chance at salvation,” reads Lyrical Media and Ryder Picture Company’s synopsis. “These are the last days of the outlaw Robin Hood.”

Executive producers include Hugh Jackman, Michael Sarnoski, Rama Gottumukkala, and Lyrical’s Jon Rosenberg and Natalie Sellers. Lyrical Media’s Alexander Black and Ryder Picture Company’s Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett will produce.

“This is not the story of Robin Hood we’ve all come to know,” stated Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett. “Instead, Michael has crafted something far more grounded and visceral. Thanks to Alexander Black and our friends at Lyrical along with Rama and Michael, the world is going to love seeing Hugh and Jodie together in this epic.”

The film’s financed by Lyrical Media. WME Independent is set to launch worldwide sales in Cannes.

“We are thrilled to be part of this very special project and to be working with a visionary director in Michael, a phenomenal cast in Hugh and Jodie, and producing with our frequent collaborators, Ryder and Swett at RPC,” said Lyrical Media’s Alexander Black.

Hugh Jackman earned a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his performance as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables. Jackman’s credits include the X-Men franchise, The Greatest Showman, The Son, and The Front Runner. Jodie Comer was nominated for three Emmy Awards for her starring role in Killing Eve, winning once in 2019. Her filmography includes The End We Start From, The Last Duel, and Free Guy. Up next is The Bikeriders opposite Austin Butler and Tom Hardy.
