The Aussie version of Alone is coming to The History Channel on August 10, 2023. Alone Australia, which aired on SBS earlier this year, features 10 survivalists attempting to outlast their fellow competitors while alone in the Tasmanian wilderness.
The 12-episode first season will premiere on History on August 10th at 10:30pm ET/PT before moving to its regular 9:30pm timeslot on August 17th.
The 10 season one survivalists include Michael Wallace, a veterinarian who sold his practice to concentrate on his 500-acre farm; Duane Byrnes, a Wildlife and Environmental Officer and proud First Nations man; Gina Chick, a rewilding facilitator, bushcraft teacher, meditation leader, barefoot nomad, singer, dancer, and primitive huntress; Peter Athanassiou, a sought-after hunting guide; and Jimmy Lassaline, a volunteer firefighter and the youngest competitor.
Chris Bakon, a retired war veteran of Iraq living with PTSD; Kate Grarock, wildlife biologist and expedition leader with a PhD; Beck Henog, a secondary school Science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) teacher; Rob Kelly, a Planning and Environmental officer who guest lectures at universities on Indigenous knowledge; and Mike Atkinson, a pilot who completed three major self-funded and self-filmed expeditions.
History offers this description of Alone Australia:
The HISTORY Channel’s hit nonfiction survival series Alone is going Aussie! Alone Australia, the highly-rated international version which originally aired on SBS, follows ten skilled outdoor survivalists on a mission to endure brutal conditions and be the last one standing. After being dropped off in the vast and isolated Tasmanian wilderness, each participant must self-document living completely alone with limited supplies and no human contact.
Additional challenges include building their own shelter, adapting to extreme weather, finding food sources, and grappling with unfamiliar terrain and dangerous wildlife. The final participant standing wins $250,000.
