LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Sunny skies and hot conditions are sticking around in Southern California Wednesday, with temperatures in some parts expected to range from the upper 90s to as high as 104 degrees.
The heat spell prompted the California Independent System Operator, which oversees the state’s electrical grid, to issue a statewide Flex Alert – a call for voluntary electricity conservation – from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Los Angeles and Orange counties will be warm and clear on Wednesday, hitting a high of 86 degrees. The region should see similar conditions through most of the week.
The valleys and Inland Empire on Wednesday will hit a high of 101 and remain hot over the next few days.
Beaches on Wednesday will see a high of 78, with 2-3 foot swells.
As monsoonal moisture sticks around the region, mountains are seeing a 20% chance of thunderstorms, with a high of 80 degrees Wednesday.
Deserts on Wednesday will be hot with a high of 104 and a 10% chance of thunderstorms, with similar conditions expected for several days.
