SoCal weather: Thunderstorms hitting the IE on Sunday, Monday

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — The Inland Empire saw thunderstorms with lightning and hail on Sunday – and could see a repeat performance on Monday.

The National Weather Service says hail the size of half dollars was falling Sunday in parts of San Bernardino and Riverside counties in the afternoon. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued, bringing lightning and possible flash flooding.

Hundreds of lightning strikes were recorded in the region.

On Monday, the Inland Empire and local valleys can again expect to see a 50% chance of thunderstorms, with a high temperature around 89 degrees.

Los Angeles and Orange counties will see a high of 82 degrees on Monday, with a 40% chance of thunderstorms.

Mountains will see a 50% chance of thunderstorms Sunday and again on Monday.
