Brush fire erupts in Santa Barbara, prompts evacuation of homes and TV news station

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KABC) — Firefighters in Santa Barbara are battling a vegetation fire Thursday night that has forced evacuations and is threatening multiple buildings and homes.

The fire has burned at least 20 acres, prompting evacuations for residents living along Loma Alta Drive and Miramonte Drive, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. The KEYT-TV newsroom was also evacuated.

Flames were racing up a steep hillside known as TV Hill. Several KEYT reporters posted videos on social media showing the intense flames as crews were providing structure protection.
Neighboring cities are assisting in tackling the blaze.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
